Choosing the Right Pediatrician for You
A pediatrician plays an important role in your baby’s physical, behavioral, and mental care from birth until the age of 18. When choosing a pediatrician, it’s important to choose someone you are confident in and comfortable with, especially since you’ll be making several visits throughout baby’s first year and over the course of their childhood. You may also want to consider the pediatrician’s training and experience, as well as the office location, hours, and routines.
Once you’ve chosen your pediatrician, we recommend that you meet with him or her prior to your baby’s birth, so you can ask any questions and become more familiar with the practice and staff. Some of our pediatric providers will even attend more complicated births as requested by the obstetrician or family practice physician, so this initial meeting can be very valuable as you prepare for your baby’s upcoming delivery.
Pediatric Services at Parkland Health Center
Our BJC Medical Group pediatricians and family practice providers at Parkland Health Center are dedicated to providing personalized care for young patients and their families. Their focus is on the whole child, addressing his or her individual needs as they grow. Access to Advanced Care
For pediatric patients who develop certain medical conditions or other concerning health issues, our pediatricians and family practice providers have referral access to the large network of BJC Medical Group specialists, who can provide more advanced care as needed. Transport services are also available to safely transfer our pediatric patients to St. Louis Children’s Hospital, if necessary.
Office Hours
Our pediatric office at Parkland Health Center has regular hours during the week and refers patients to the exchange for any medical issues that may arise after-hours. Our office also accepts walk-ins. With the COVID-19 pandemic, some of our providers are also offering virtual visits in certain cases; however, talk to your doctor to learn more and to see if your child’s condition qualifies for a virtual visit.
Location and Insurance
The pediatric office is located conveniently close to home, in the Medical Arts Clinic on the Parkland Health Center campus. Most insurance plans are accepted. Be sure to contact the doctor’s office for the complete list of accepted plans.
