Killion Joins Medical Staff

Karl KillionKarl Killion, DO, joins the Parkland Health Center medical staff April 7 and will see patients at Parkland Health Clinic on the fourth floor of the Medical Arts Building. Dr. Killion is a well-known pediatrics and family practice physician. He has practiced in the area since 1985.

Dr. Killion is board-certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. Originally from Houston, Missouri, Dr. Killion graduated from Licking (Missouri) High School and completed his undergraduate work at Southwest Missouri State University, Springfield. He earned his medical degree from Kirksville (Missouri) College of Medicine and completed his internship at Charles Still Osteopathic Hospital in Jefferson City, Missouri. He practiced medicine at the New Madrid (Missouri) Clinic from 1985-89. He was in practice with Primary Care Associates and on the medical staff of Mineral Area Regional Medical Center, Farmington, Missouri, from 1989.

Dr. Killion specializes in family practice and sees patients of all ages. The majority are pediatric patients. He strives to make each pediatric patient involved in his or her own care. "If a child leaves with a feeling of self-worth, I feel this is just as important as treating their illness," says Dr. Killion.

Mission work is an important part of Killion's life. He has donated time and his skills multiple times to underserved populations in areas such as Mexico, Jamaica, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua. "God has given me this opportunity to be a doctor here, and I feel an obligation to take it to other places."  He enjoys interacting with the people. "It makes me better too" says Killion.

In his spare time, Killion enjoys playing bridge, volleyball, exercising, gardening and spending time with his family and their two huskies. Killion is married to Jackie Kelley-Killion, RNC, manager of the OB Department at Parkland Health Center.
