PHC’s Medical Staff Contributes to Community
The medical staff at Parkland Health Center presented checks to benefit two local organizations. On behalf of the medical staff, John Grechus, MD, of Ladies First OB/GYN, is shown presenting a check for $500 to Parkland Pregnancy Resource Center (PPRC). Accepting the check is Donna Masson, co-director of operations for PPRC.
A check for $500 was presented to Roy Henson to benefit the American Cancer Society and to be applied toward “Roy’s Relay for Life” total. Representing the Parkland Health Center medical staff and presenting the check to Henson is Jack Marler (on left), director of Parkland’s medical staff office. Henson was born with Cerebral Palsy and has spent most of his life in a wheelchair. He began working out in 2008 to leave his wheelchair and walk as far as he could down the local football field as a way to raise money for the Relay for Life of St. Francois County. In September, he made it 38 yards after a packed football game, walking to the chants of the crowds on the field shouting "Roy, Roy, Roy!" He has continued since then to raise money for the American Cancer Center, hoping to eventually bring his total to $10,000.
